We created a play based on the William Golding novel Lord of the Flies. We explored the themes through movement and dance. In our version a group of adults with learning disabilities are deserted on a island without any staff. The story, like the novel, descents into chaos, there is tension and violence as well as improvised survival skills.
We worked with the Dorney Wood Scouts to learn about survival skills and we had a workshop with Matthew Bourne's dance education department "Rebourne" exploring the movement and dance elements of the story. The workshop was based on their current dance production of Lord of the Flies (Matthew Bourne website).
Lord of the Flies is being performed by Friendly Bombs by Special Permission from Robert Fox Ltd.
