2010 - The Tempest

This year Friendly Bombs have created a performance of The Tempest for interactive workshops and performances at schools and day centres in the local area.

The story features many characters, monsters and spirits allowing scope for creativity, movement and dance. The workshops also involve artwork and experimentation with use of movement. We have used music and design from the 1960s and there is a hallucinogenic quality to the events of this mysterious island.

The Tempest is Shakespeare's final play and deals with issues of loss and the giving up of magical powers.

The Tempest performed for: Burnham Opportunities Centre, Oakbridge Day Centre, Seeleys House Day Centre, Jack Tizard School, Holyport Manor School as well as at Norden Farm Arts Centre, West Wing Arts Centre, Slough, Wycombe Swan Town Hall and workshops for Gateway Clubs in High Wycombe and Amersham and Alsorts Club in Maidenhead

The Tempest won three Awards at The Maidenhead Drama Festival, a real achievement for our company as we are judged against mainstream theatre groups. We won Best Stage Presentation, Best Comedy Performance and The Adjudicators Special Award for Best Play.
