We have had a hugely successful and very busy year with Friendly Bombs going from strength to strength!
January 2026
In January 2026, our members and volunteer helpers enjoyed a trip to the National Theatre to see The Playboy of the Western World.
We also spent an inspiring day at Norden Farm, learning about theatre technology and discovering what goes on behind the scenes.
November 2025
We were honoured to be nominated for The King’s Award for Voluntary Service 2025.
While we did not receive the award, the committee greatly admired the work we do within our community. Being independently nominated for this prestigious award - the highest recognition for volunteer groups in the UK - is a significant achievement in itself and reflects the high regard our local community has for our work.
The assessors were particularly impressed by our contributions and the positive impact we continue to make. We are incredibly proud of our helpers and grateful for their ongoing dedication.
October 2025
In October 2025 our Macbeth project allowed our wonderful members and volunteers the opportunity to have a workshop at Reading Rep about the Scottish play before seeing their production.
Some of the members and helpers also traveled to Stratford on Avon to see Sam Heughan as Macbeth at the RSC.
7th September 2025
We have devised a year worth of activities for our members to learn all about the Shakespearean tragedy Macbeth.
20th July 2025
We performed the Irish classic play Playboy of the Western World.

Thanks to Big Yellow Self Storage and Heathrow Community Trust for your support and funding.
This week we facilitated a drama course for local people with disabilities giving meaningful and purposeful activities to a socially isolated community. The project was sustainable, using pre-loved costumes and recycled resources. We learned a piece of classic theatre together and enjoyed putting on the play ‘ Playboy of the Western World’
19th June 2024
The Happy Prince evening, a story about a man who looked at his local community and decided to give all he had to those around him so that their lives were improved. Such a fitting tribute to Friendly Bombs own Ted.
“When I read this story for the first time, and subsequent times, I cried. I have always loved Oscar Wilde’s words, and when I searched for material for this project for Friendly Bombs Theatre Company, The Happy Prince had a particular resonance. It is not the material things that give us ultimate joy in life, it’s relationships, friendships and compassion.” - Friendly Bombs Artistic Director Mikki
23rd May 2024
Art session for our show of The Happy Prince by Oscar Wilde
15th March 2024
Wonderful to be able to take our members to the theatre again. Thanks to Norden Farm in Maidenhead for accommodating us so well.
20th February 2024
We are very sad to announce that Friendly Bombs creator and founder has passed away. Thank you Ted for all that you gave us.
