2000 to 2001 A Midsummer Night's Dream

This year we chose to try Shakespeare, and we thought The Dream had the necessary magic to allow the group to use their skills in performance. This was also a play in which there were some memorable comedy characters.

The Dream was taken to The Boyn Grove Community Resource Centre, Maidenhead and Endeavour Centre, Chesham as well as the garden of Stow Lodge, a residential home in Gerrards Cross. where we added workshops for the people at the venues.

A Midsummer Night's Dream tells the story of lovers who run away to the forest, where a group of workmen are also meeting to practice a play. In the forest there are magical spirits, the spirits play tricks on the mortals throughout the night with magical and comic outcomes. All is sorted out by morning and the lovers get married, with the workmen performing their play for the wedding party.

In this show we first employed a sound recordist to record the group's voices to make the sounds of the forest

The Dream was also performed at The Beacon Centre, Beaconsfield.
